This screenprint is a remake of my original digital print, No Place Like Home (2006), and marks the 20th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The original, a piece from my senior art exhibition at Xavier University of Louisiana, depicts a young Black girl standing in front of a damaged home in the Lower-9th ward. Like Dorothy in Oz, she reckons with her fate post-Katrina, lost in a familiar place and understanding that coming/being home will never be the same. Each screenprint is a unique 1 of 1 piece, with inks and designs that distinguish each one. Colors and design will be unique to each, and the choice of artist, as shown in the example.
Size: 20” x 14”
Medium: screen print, ink, and acrylic
Availability: 20, 1 of 1 prints
